Early Life and Education

Lester Holt was born on March 8, 1959, in Marin County, California. He attended California State University, Sacramento, where he earned a degree in government.

Journalism Career

Holt began his journalism career as a reporter for KCRA-TV in Sacramento in 1981. He later worked as an anchor and reporter for WBBM-TV in Chicago and MSNBC before joining NBC News in 2000.

NBC Nightly News

Holt became the anchor of NBC Nightly News in 2015, succeeding Brian Williams. He has since won numerous awards for his reporting, including the Edward R. Murrow Award and the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism.

NBC Nightly News is the flagship daily evening television news program on NBC. It has been titled "NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt" since June 22, 2015, for its weeknight broadcasts.

Interview with President

On July 15, 2024, Holt sat down for an exclusive interview with President of the United States. The interview covered a wide range of topics, including the state of the economy, the war in Ukraine, and the upcoming midterm elections.
