French Voters Elect Remaining Assemblée Nationale Members

Far-Right National Rally Tries to Remain Optimistic

On Sunday, July 7, French voters returned to the polls to elect the remaining members of the Assemblée Nationale, the lower house of the French Parliament. In the first round of voting, held on June 12, 76 candidates were elected outright. The remaining 577 seats were up for grabs in the second round.

Results

According to projected results, the centrist Ensemble alliance led by President Emmanuel Macron is expected to win the most seats, followed by the left-wing New Popular Front (NFP) led by Jean-Luc MĂ©lenchon. The far-right National Rally, led by Marine Le Pen, is projected to come in third.

The final results of the election are expected to be confirmed by the French Interior Ministry later today.

Conclusion

The results of the French parliamentary elections will have a significant impact on the country's political landscape. If Macron's Ensemble alliance wins a majority of seats, he will be able to implement his agenda without the need for coalition partners. However, if the NFP or the National Rally wins a significant number of seats, it could make it more difficult for Macron to govern.
